  報告簡介: 

  The research on microwave processing of materials started more than 30 years ago in CRISMAT laboratory. In 1967, the CRISMAT laboratory published its first paper on this topic, reporting the microwave sintering of lead-based perovskite for ceramic capacitors. Since then, this activity has always been maintained, allowing the CRISMAT laboratory to acquire significant experiences and skills in this research area. Today, they have developed a unique platform composed of laboratory designed microwave systems that can be used for different purposes. It includes a 2.45 GHz single-mode cavity equipped with a uniaxial press for hot-pressing sintering, a fully automatized 915 MHz system that was successfully used to sinter many materials for various applications (transparent spinel, alumina, zirconia, etc.). It was also developed an original 2.45 GHz single-mode applicator equipped with an optical and contact free dilatometer.  

  This seminar will present some basic and useful data for scientists who wish to understand how this technology works. The overall microwave system will be simply described, as well as the interactions between materials and microwaves, with also mentioning some useful technological points. Some applications will be shown such as the microwave welding of ceramic parts by a glass phase, the fast synthesis of intermetallic compounds (in less than 10 seconds), and the hybrid synthesis and sintering of CaCu3Ti4O12 compound. In a second seminar planned latter, other applications will also be presented, including the microwave sintering for transparent spinel ceramics applications, the development of a contactless dilatometer, the multi-physical modeling of these processes, and some applications of the hot-press microwave sintering system (translucide and nano-sized full dense alumina).
